Revolutionary Communist Organisation

Revolution In Our Lifetime!

WHO WE ARE

We see the division of the socialist movement into many competing camps as being a reflection of the immaturity of our movement. How can we hope to win more workers over to communist politics when we can not agree on a common program and organisation? We believe that socialist militants must unite our resources, rather than divide them into dozens of petty sectarian groups.

We are a communist pre-party fighting group who believe that the most important next step for socialist militants in Australia is reforging a united communist party. This party must have real internal democracy, with open debates and the freedom to form internal factions. It must not be a coalition of sectarian groups, or a wishy-washy "broad-left" front. It must be a democratic centralist vanguard organisation united around a common program for action, rather than agreement with a narrow set of theoretical principles or self-identification with "socialism".

We have a draft program, internal democracy, and open factions. We practice unity in action and freedom of criticism. We are drawn from a variety of socialist tendencies and life experiences, and we are united by our iron-clad determination to prepare the working class for social revolution.

Our aim is to win the socialist movement to this strategy. Divided as we are, we cannot ignore the current state of our movement or skip over the pre-existing socialist groups. We must unite it!

WHAT WE STAND FOR

From the Docklands Program:

Only communism, the movement to emancipate the working-class and abolish the existing world-order, can overcome such adversity. As socialists, we must lead the fight for the highest possible degree of organization and unity within the working-class; to universalize its many particular struggles through agitation, education, and organization; and to develop the most militant layers of these movements into dedicated communists, bringing these communist workers into our ranks. In short, we must merge the political movement for socialism with the workers’ movement. As this merger develops, so too will the farsightedness, confidence, and organization of the working-class that enables their emergence as the hegemonic class of society. Working-class victory in this struggle—the conquest of political power—is propelled by the formation and practice of the communist party.

...

The first step in the long road to socialist society is to win the battle for democracy. Only through its own republic can the working-class organise society in the interests of the overwhelming majority. To that end, the immediate political task of the workers’ movement is abolition of the monarchy and its replacement with a democratic and social republic. The minimalist presidential ‘republic’ of the liberal establishment neither inspires nor suffices. Instead, what is needed is a democratic constituent assembly with full powers to establish a provisional government and a new republican constitution.

WHAT WE DO

We are an organisation of communist militants. That means all of us actively participate in and contribute to the life of the organisation, struggling together for our common aims. We are a democratic organisation that embraces freedom of debate and dissent, while still unified by our common cause and program.

We strive to be active in every sphere of working-class resistance, from the street to the unions, from campuses to workplaces, from welfare to housing, the liberation struggles of women, first nations Australians, migrants, and queer workers; all while also emphasising consistent political education, consciousness-raising, and revolutionary agitation.

We are not tailing the social movements looking for recruits, nor are we opportunists looking for the next chance to turn towards electoral politics. We are not cynical and we do not hide our allegiances - we are revolutionaries!
